Looking at the above picture
- what do you think the male's thoughts are
- what do you think is the lady thinking while her painting was being made

I did some charity and got a medal for it. errr

This is a story about modern day Robin Hood. As children, we were taught to be moral, to be right in what they do, to help everyone, to help even if someone didnt ask for help. We bought this theory and started helping everyone in our path. And then there is Robin Hood - the hero who looted the rich and distributed to poor.

The setting for Robin Hood might be different from what the setting is today. Those were the times when rich people became rich by looting(possibly - I didnt live then to see) the poor. And Robin Hood brought back the riches to the poor. What were the poor doing all this time...?

Do we have to do charity?
Under what conditions do we need to do charity?

For a reason does Bill Gates have a $40B charity foundation and for a reason did Warren Buffett gave away near 85% of his fortune towards charity.

It is all about the capable one lending a helping hand to the deprived one.

We cannot just blame the deprived for not being enterprising enough, as for the fact that controlling his adversity may be beyond his reach.
eg: Talk about a well educated doctor fighting for basic necessities at places like the war-torn eastern europe or middle-east.

Charity is a philanthropic act that can give a sense of satifaction for the ones indulged in it and can be done to the extent of their best possibility.

I know what you did ...

Thursday, July 06, 2006
I woke up in the morning, brushed my teeth, didn't take a shower (saturday, sunday holiday), got ready for the office, grabbed a meal and there the work starts. Get up for lunch, eat lunch, back to work, get up for coffee or chicken soup, back to work, talk to your colleagues, come home, get into a friend's house, have dinner, come home and sleep.

If this were the schedule, I would rather make robots and tell them to do it (what the hell, it doesnt make sense).

The same day, seen a different way..
Wake up around 8:00, brush your teeth and clean whatever. Chat with neighbors, say hi to the watchman, throw eggs at the home owner, beat the crap out of a stranger, go to office, clear the desk, get coffee, clear the desk again, work, clear the desk again, if guy, chat with all married women, (some research tells that..) if gal, chat with unmarried guys, go to lunch, eat something different, spill something in the restaurant, come back to work, clear the desk, watch soccer, clear the desk, get up for tea, come back and clear the desk.. and you'll live happily ever after.

And the mantra is - a prank a day, kick someone, beat someone, spill coffee, and some other stuff will make a day worthwile at the end to sleep in a semi-state.

If something goes wrong with my day, I know who did it.

Ps: I know what you did in your bedroom last night

NextGen - Personalized attention.

Eg: "...Prescribing medications is mostly a trial-and-error process. Doctors select the most promising medicine for a patient. If it doesn’t work, they try another. But scientists are discovering that diseases progress along physiological pathways that vary from person to person. As genomics becomes better understood, doctors will be able to use DNA tests to determine the right treatment for each individual. Genentech, Pfizer, and Gen-Probe – all on this year’s Wired 40 list – are leading the way."

Prescribing medicine is not a trial-and-error process. It is a probabilistic process, the results obtained after trials on rats and humans.
If they are leading the way, then we dont need any lab rats.
If they are really leading and did some breakthrough, go and but their stock.

Money Matters.

How about some thoughts on investments in India or elsewhere...anything from mutual funds, stocks, real estate, etc. State pros and cons.
I may try to bring an expert on board (IC;)) for some advice.

I work in related field and sharing some information based on my understanding and limited research.

Stocks - they help raise money for the company issuing them. Value of the stock depends on factors like the worth of the company, demand for its products, sales, company's income statement, balance statement etc.
Buying and Selling a stock -
We want to buy stocks to earn money out of them. This can be in the form of a dividend or by selling at a higher price.
To buy or not to buy -
Buy those stocks which are sure to give returns in the form of dividends or because of increase in stock's value (unless you want to make a loss).
Some terms: Ask Bid price, Day trading, NYSE, Bloomberg, NASDAQ, LSE, BSE

Kalyan, it would be great if you bring someone on board with extensive knowledge.

satisfaction is something that has different meaning for every individual, for a olympic an runner its the feeling of giving everything that he has got and leaving the rest on the turf, doesn't matter if you win a gold or silver, what matters is did you give every ounce of will power for the goal.
